A fifteen chord autoharp, designated “The Bluegrass”, it was manufactured by the Rhythm Band Instrument Company, founded in Fort Worth, Texas in 1961. Although the company mainly manufactured products for schools and music educators, the exceptional quality of their instruments made them popular with professional musicians too. It’s a handsome piece, using fine woods and exhibiting much attention to detail in it’s construction. It has a broad, rich tone, but tuning it after it’s sat unused for a while can be quite a challenge.
